Travel Tips

Geneva Travel & Cruise wants your travel experience to go as smoothly as possible. Here are some travel tips we hope you find useful.

Packing Tips:

·         Pack only half of what you think you need. Most people tend to over pack.

·         Pack valuables (we recommend leaving valuables at home where they are most safe) and any necessary medications in your carry-on bags. Any valuables brought with on your trip should remain locked in your hotel/cabin safe when unattended. Please visit the TSA’s website for further information when traveling with medications. If traveling internationally please click here.

·         Pack an expandable bag that can be used to carry items home that you purchase on your trip.

·         Wrap toiletries in plastic bags in case they break or leak.

·         Include a few plastic bags for dirty or damp clothes.

·         If traveling to a tropical destination pack plenty of sunscreen and bug spray. Please see the following recommended repellents from the the CDC:

·         Place your 3-1-1 bag with liquids, gels, and aerosols in front pocket of your carry on for easy accessibility.

·         When traveling with your significant other pack half your items in each other's checked bags. In the event a bag is lost, you will at least have half of your items!

·         Make two photocopies of the passport identification page, travel itinerary, driver’s license and the credit cards you plan to take. Leave one copy of each with family or friends at home, and pack the other copies separately from the originals. Take a picture of your passport identification page on your smart phone, or scan and email a copy of your passport to yourself, so you'll always have with you.

·         Don‘t forget important travel documents like your driver‘s license, passport, travel insurance and health insurance cards.

Before you leave:

·         Check the TSA Website to help make your air travel go as easy as possible.

·         Visit the Traveler's Checklist from the U.S. Department of State.

·         For Coronavirus information visit the CDC and the U.S. Department of State.

·        For health notices that may pertain to your trip please visit the CDC’s website at http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/notices.  Pregnant or thinking about becoming pregnant? Please read the following from the CDC: Pregnant women in any trimester should consider postponing travel to the areas where Zika virus transmission is ongoing. Pregnant women who must travel to one of these areas should talk to their doctor or other healthcare provider first and strictly follow steps to avoid mosquito bites during the trip. Women trying to become pregnant should consult with their healthcare provider before traveling to these areas and strictly follow steps to prevent mosquito bites during the trip.

·         If traveling outside the United States sign up for the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program.

·         Call your credit card companies and bank to alert them you will be traveling outside your normal area and be sure your cards (and pin) will work.

·         Contact your cell provider to set up international calling and/or texting plans. If cruising, we recommend keeping your phone off or in airplane mode while onboard.
